I feel all sorts of good things when I listen to Josh Groban's music -- even more so when I hear him live. And last night, I saw him at Ravinia with my mom. Let me tell you...he gets my blood surging. When I heard the first note, those good feelings came rushing through me. The venue was definitely echoing with good vibes.
I am not a person who normally gets all excitable over a person of status but let me be clear...I get excitable over Josh Groban's music, his persona. He would be one person I would like to meet. Oh wait, I did meet him two years ago, and yeah, he is very personable. He would be a pretty cool guy to talk to and hang with at a social gathering. He does not have an "I'm famous" type attitude; he seems down to earth with a great sense of humor. This personality of his beams off from the stage. Kinda amazing how well he can exude, from the stage, a "personable down to earth kind of guy" attitude to thousands in a crowd. He knows how to interact with the audience and work the stage.
The sold-out show tonight was fabulous; as I expected. Such an amazing talent; singer and entertainer that no one else can compare. His voice is as powerful live as it is on disc; more powerful live, actually. I loved every song he performed but a couple come to mind that gave off incredible energy; I Believe, the drum jam & Voce Existe Em Mim, and You Raise Me Up. I could feel the energy run through the audience especially with You Raise Me Up. I loved Vice Existe Em Mim best, but then again, that song is a favorite of mine. The show was not as long as I thought it would be, but I was fine with that as it was a solid show; 1 1/2 hours of packed entertainment. It flew by quickly.
My mom--- my mom, is super fabulous. She does a great job navigating the Ravinia venue. We arrived two hours early and staked out our lawn-seats, ate dinner that she packed, conversed and then obtained coffee. Upon hearing that first note we immediately headed over to the railing area. My mom navigated us to a spot where we were able to see JG pretty darn well. No good photos though---not that close for my camera and low light but definitely close enough to see the video screen well and his movements on stage.
Thank you Mom for taking me to the concert. Thank you for JG coffee cup; adding to my collection. Thank for this fun night.
